Today, there are less than 200 operating carousels remaining in all of North America. With the planned construction of a new carousel in Southern Maryland, it will add number seven to the only six remaining carousels in Maryland*.  In addition, the carousel facility will contain a museum and learning center for the preservation of the art of woodcarving and carousel art.   It will be the only facility of its kind in Maryland.  Many of the carousel animals will be replicas of the ones that adorned the old Marshall Hall carousel.  Beautiful horses with flowing manes and whimsical names such as “Princess” and “Miss Scarlett” will conjure up memories for many who rode the beautiful carousel at Marshall Hall and will delight a new generation of children.
